Have you ever gone out to a restaurant and been amazed at the amount of food that comes to your table? Restaurants in the US tend to serve 2-3 times as much as we really need. Nutritionists say we need no more than about 700 calories per meal, and that eating outside the home often adds 2-3 times that many calories.
So what do we do when the food comes to our table? Nine times out of ten, we eat most of it. That's because humans are designed to eat more than we need, as a bulwark against times of scarcity. We're also designed to hunt and gather, but we're not doing that anymore either, so we need to use our common sense to eat proper portions to keep our weight at a healthy place.
A good place to start is, as always,Choose My Plate, a government website that provides a lot of information on eating right. Then, when going to a restaurant, keep the portions in mind, and separate out food to eat, and food to take home for another meal. You can even ask for a take-away container before you start to eat, and place your next meal into that container to go.
MK Meals can help, with our frozen portion controlled meals. Each meal contains a main course and either one or two side dishes.
